The Lord's Promise

As I am reading 1 Samuel, Saul continues to pursue David. That in every trial and tribulation of David, the Holy Spirit was showing him the importance of resting in Him and believing His promises. God was purging him to bring forth more fruit.

Through God's Word it is so obvious that when you seek Him, you will never walk in darkness. David allowed God to lead him, and he trusted Him.

As Saul's iniquity was becoming full, he had the high priest Ahimelech and 85 other priests along with everyone else in the city killed, with the exception of Ahimelech's son who had escaped. David was presented with an opportune moment, when Saul entered the cave where David and his men were hiding. David cut off the hem of his robe and immediately the Holy Spirit convicted him.

Before presenting to Saul the evidence and the opportunity to destroy him David apologized and admonished his men for even suggesting that he commit this heinous act. It would have been just as cowardly as Saul attempting to kill David when he thought he was too ill to leave his bed.

David's Mercy

David prayed and prophesied to Saul, speaking out of his mouth of his ability to end Saul's life and how he didn't, and how Saul continued to pursue David as if he were an animal. Confessing that he never wronged Saul, but that Saul's wickedness was from within. It was truly who he was. He then asked God to judge and render judgement between he and Saul, to plead his case, and to vindicate him.

Nevertheless, when David was amongst Nabal's men, he was still honorable. Not only was he caring for all of the men who were with him, but he even cared for strangers and defended cities. Many of those, who were willing to betray David to Saul at any moment if it would be profitable for them.

Nabal treated David and his men with contempt, and I can imagine David's anguish and anger. David's men were depending on him. They were tired, hungry, and probably starting to become discouraged.

The Lord's Mercy

David had humbled himself to ask another man to provide for his people. A man whom he helped but was so stubborn and evil that he actually had become arrogant enough to believe that he was a god. At that moment David snapped. He swore that no one would live to see the end of that day.

Conversely, this is where God stepped in to show him, "If you just trust in ME, I will give you everything that I promised you, and that because I love you so much, you will not fail. I am honoring your prayers born of the Spirit. Vengeance is mine!!!".

The Lord was showing him that He hears the prayers of the righteous and has the power to move the heavens and earth to bring them to pass. A gift when the Spirit intercedes on your behalf.

The Power of Feminine Energy

Moreover, let us think of Abigail and what she had to put up with. I can tell that even being a woman, Nabal's servants and the men of his household had a great respect for her. She had wisdom and discernment. Obviously from how she humbly encouraged David, she knew who he was. The prophetic Word that she spoke over his life confirms her relationship with the Spirit. She did not hesitate in her submissiveness while begging for her and her household's lives.

Even so, there was no pride or fear in her. She was resting in her feminine energy. She complimented his strength and character, while supporting him. I believe that she was definitely the woman for David. It is understandable why he married her.

Nabal showed his narcissistic contempt for her and how he must have taken her for granted. Considering the extensive preparations that she went through to meet David. He either assumed that the preparatory measures were for him, or that he paid such little attention to her that he wasn't even aware that she had a life outside of him.

I believe that Nabal was only blessed for her sake and for those that served him, and that she was the driving force behind his success. It speaks clearly to her business savvy. As for Nabal, he only had one advantage at that time. He was a man.

The Conclusion

Jesus showed David that as long as he trusted and followed Him with all his heart, the LORD would make him a secure and everlasting house. A promise that can only be found and manifested through faith and continued refinement in Him. As one pastor preached recently, "indomitable faith!".

Consequently, we need to understand David because of the promises that Jesus has made to us. We should not fret when our enemies foolishly think that they can come for us.

God reveals their cunning, crafty spirits to us and through others and even certain circumstances. He shows us that he is protecting us even when we are not aware. It is then up to us to be obedient and to walk accordingly.

The more we trust Him in the little things, the more refined we will become. The more my faith increases, the more intimate my relationship with Him becomes. The more in tuned I am with his Spirit, the greater things He begins to show me. Along with the elevation that will take me higher in Him.

"There are levels to this walk with Him!!!"

When the LORD Goes Before You!!!

When the LORD Goes Before You!!! “Know [without any doubt], that the LORD your God is not giving you this good land to possess because of your righteousness, for you are a stiff-necked (stubborn, obstinate) people. Remember [with remorse] and do not forget how you provoked the LORD your God to wrath in the wilderness; from the day you left the land of Egypt until you arrived at this place, you have been rebellious against the LORD. And at Horeb (Sinai) you provoked the LORD to wrath, and the LORD was so angry with you that He would have destroyed you” (Deuteronomy 9: 4-8, AMP). Many of us focus on Moses' fasting for forty days and forty nights. But he had to go back up for a second time, for forty more days and nights, hewing two tablets of stone himself, as he fasted and prayed for the lives of the Israelites, including his brother Aaron. In God’s mercy they spent forty years in the wilderness, and He was not wrong if He would have condemned them to eighty years. Before we procee...

Why Jesus Put Away Distractors!!!

Why Jesus Put Away Distractors!!! Many may not believe this, but the atmosphere is a determinant to the outcome for any situation. The Holy Spirit and prayer brings peace and success in all things. Years ago, and even now, I have had many times when I would ask colleagues for help, and they would say “Okay” and then just keep fraternizing with one another as if I wasn’t there. Then the LORD would speak to my spirit, annoyed with their behavior saying, “You don’t need them. We will figure it out together”. And when we accomplished the task, these same nurses would look shocked and appalled. Teamwork is critical in healthcare. Brainstorming, collaboration, and critical thinking is vital. Particularly in emergent situations. But what I have noticed is that many believe that they can damage your esteem or make you feel less than by ignoring your very presence. This may be done throughout a hierarchy. But it only speaks to their psyches. Or they have a compensity to want to make you feel th...
Whole and Healed While communing with the Holy Spirit, I felt the urge to read the story of Joseph. He has always been one of my favorite characters. My spirit is complete as I examined all of Joseph's circumstances. Through many trials and tribulations, the LORD was with him. When Joseph was younger his father kept him near to himself. (His brothers must have felt unloved and neglected at times.) Albeit, as they worked in the fields, Joseph would be sent out to "spy" on his brothers. Directly obeying his father, Israel. As his brothers tended to the tasks that they were sent to execute. (From what is written they lacked character in their youth and as young men. So, they were not trustworthy of their father.) Seemingly, Joseph, being a "goody two-shoes", made sure that Israel was aware of their wrongdoings. The LORD started to reveal Himself to Joseph in dreams. Being immature, he felt it necessary to brag of these dreams to his brothers. Knowing that their f...
