I Will Praise the LORD Always!!!
“When thou comest nigh unto a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace unto it. And it shall be, if it make thee answer of peace, and open unto thee, then it shall be, that all the people that is found therein shall be tributaries unto thee, and they shall serve thee. And if it will make no peace with thee, but will make war against thee, then thou shalt besiege it:
“And when the LORD thy God hath delivered it into thine hands, thou shalt smite every male thereof with the edge of the sword: but the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, even all the spoil thereof, shalt thou take unto thyself; and thou shalt eat the spoil of thine enemies, which the LORD thy God hath given thee. Thus shalt thou do unto all the cities which are very far off from thee, which are not of the cities of these nations” (Deuteronomy 20: 10-15, KJV).
I want you to notice that this is the group of the backslidden, who do not know God. They did not live near the Israelites and may have never heard of or witnessed the glory and the majesty of the LORD. And for any man that is listening, please take note that the men were not spared if they chose to wage war against the Israelites. Because most men are obstinate and set in their ways. And even though women can be more easily deceived, they and children are more malleable.
This also shows that God was unwilling to waste the time of pleading with them to turn from their wicked ways. If their hearts were not open to receive the salvation of the LORD at the time that He was coming to them, they would die in their sin. Because men are meant to lead. And their punishment will be swifter, greater, and permanent. Remember, He initially offered them peace. This is known as His salvation, in modern times. The Israelites were commanded to spread God’s glory throughout the earth.
Let me digress for a moment. I have never seen anything more beautiful than when the elders would run down the church aisles in praise and worship, with tears streaming down their faces. As they sang melodies to the LORD. To watch my grandfather everyday as he got on his knees and prayed faithfully to the LORD, and as he got to his feet to worship Him. There was nothing more glorious than this.
But for those who knew of the LORD, and had heard of His glory and His might, the time for repentance had passed. This is why those who were in close proximity to the Israelites were to be destroyed. Please pay attention and apply it to the times that we are in now. This is the end of days. God’s word is never in contradiction to itself. It is confirmed throughout. The New Testament affirms the Old Testament. Don’t be deceived. God had established His deliverance, restoration, redemption, and freedom from sin since the beginning.
His enemies are cancerous sores in the eyes of the LORD. And this is why the Israelites were strictly forbidden from being unequally yoked, while being commanded to spare no one. Not man, woman, child or any thing with breath in it.
“But of the cities of these people, which the LORD thy God doth give thee for an inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth: but thou shalt utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee: that they teach you not to do after all their abominations, which they have done unto their gods; so should you sin against the LORD your God” (Deuteronomy 20: 16-18, KJV).
God does everything decently and in order. The Israelites were commanded not to disrupt the food supply as they waged war against their enemies. Some countries, chiefly the United States, have attributed to hunger and starvation in other countries. And even atrocities such as cannibalism and murder. When you are okay with mass genocide and the deliberate destruction of infants, children, and the elderly who are most vulnerable, even in nebulous complicity, as has been done all over Africa and the world, and in Palestine currently, you attempt to stifle the voices that condemn this behavior. You are complacent.
Even as people here are being killed, oppressed, tortured, kidnapped, and raped, in the name of martial law. Usually invoked during war, rebellion, or natural disaster, waged against innocent civilians, under the guise of extreme civil unrest. “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin” (James 4: 17, KJV).
“When thou shalt besiege a city a long time, in making war against it to take it, thou shalt not destroy the trees thereof by forcing an axe against them: for thou mayest eat of them, and thou shalt not cut them down (for the tree of the field is man’s life) to employ them in the seige: only the trees which thou knowest that they be not trees for meat, thou shalt destroy and cut them down; and thou shalt build bulwarks against the city that maketh war with thee, until it be subdued” (Deuteronomy 20: 19-20, KJV).
