The Power of Silence!!!
As we go into the 6th chapter of the Book of Joshua, I feel the need to point out how powerful silence can be. Under the command of the LORD, as Joshua and the Israelites encompassed the walls of Jericho, they spoke not a word. What I want to point out right from the start is that in their silence, victory in God was assured. Meditate on this scripture: “For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body” (James 3: 2, KJV). When you can control your tongue, your whole body follows suit. Obedience to this one spiritual command ensured that they would not be ensnared by the words of their mouths.
“Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body. Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth. Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. (Once you lose control of your mouth, you allow your words to dictate your life, setting you on a trajectory to hell.) For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison” (James 3: 3-8, KJV). When I filed for my divorce, I fired one lawyer and the other decided to quit, and I ended up representing myself in the Spirit of the LORD, against an “up and coming hotshot”. There is a saying, “A man that is his own lawyer has a fool for a client.” But that is not necessarily so, particularly if you are guided by the Spirit. (There is good and bad in every profession.) Our plans were not revealed to them; it rendered them the inability to prepare their own legal offense or defense. It gave me a significant advantage. It is too long to cover here, but the LORD saved me from being swindled and destitute for the rest of my life. And it was that serious! When you mix wickedness and greed, the combination is lethal. As we are seeing right now. The repercussions are being manifested in real time, and it will be impossible to keep covering it up, as many face bankruptcy and recession in this country.
I recently responded to a question on YouTube, which I rarely do anymore, particularly because I know that we will be held accountable for every idle word that proceeds from our mouths. Even for the thoughts and intents of our hearts. Therefore, I don’t want to be a stumbling block to anyone. My answer to this person is condensed here. Seek the LORD’s face for your life and be willing to ACCEPT and be obedient to His answers and direction.
We are so willing to consult others, including random strangers, about what to do in our own lives instead of going to the Source. He has written “The Book of Life”. And when you think that this alone doesn’t suffice, be still, and seek His face with prayers and fasting, being prepared to listen. Not wresting the situation until you hear what you want, and to proceed in the way that you think you should go. We say we want to seek our LORD, but we refuse to hear and obey Him fully. Then expect that He should remain on “standby” because it is convenient for us. It is already in our hearts what we want to do, and this is what we do. Then we have the nerve to insult Him by acting as if we really cared about His direction for our lives. The all-knowing God. We are liars. And without sincere repentance, and the turning away from our wicked ways, we will perish in our sins for this.
